The innate lack of compassion of the left

In classic Greek mythology Athena the goddess of wisdom, war ,strategy, handicrafts and reason is described as the "daughter" of Zeus, born from his head after he swallowed her pregnant mother. I believe this myth is a centerpiece of the progressive-liberal-socialist (or liberal for short) worldview. It explains much of what drives their positions against humanity's right to life, family values, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in general and advocates of these ideas in particular.

LIberals pine for what is in their view pure reason and objectivity unfettered by what they denigrate as "life experience". Pure reason and objectivity is to be imparted to the chosen few by an enlightened group of academics and social scientists. This knowledge is to be enshrined in the halls of certain quality institutions of higher learning. These academics and social scientists function as high priests and priestesses in the manner of a latter day revival of the cult of Athena.

Of course following such a mythology is to ignore reality. It is a fact of life that humans are born and then evolve through childhood to eventually become adults. As they grow children learn, to a significant extent, about life and how to deal with it through the example set and the knowledge given to them by their parents. This process is far from perfect and outcomes in life vary greatly due to the individuality brought to bear by the children and parents involved.

Because life, especially as one grows from being a child to being an adult, is messy liberals crave a more uniform approach to achieving perfect wisdom. Thus they seek their salvation in any of the various forms of collectivism. In their minds-eye liberals believe the collective, or hive if you will, has acquired all experience and knowledge necessary for one to live a pure life of reason and wisdom. The collective, through its tool the government, enforces this validated group think. Anyone straying from the collective wisdom is dealt with harshly. Depending upon the strain of collectivism the penalty ranges from being ostracized to being put to death.

Liberalism, in short, is the antithesis to individualism.

Once this motivation behind the cult of Athena masquerading as modern day liberalism is acknowledged then it becomes clear why liberals hate traditional values. Liberals detest childhood as an evil that must be endured before one reaches enlightenment. Childhood is a curse put upon humans that delays if not keeps them from achieving their potential. Thus childhood must be shortened if not eliminated. How to do this? By having the collective seize children from their parents and indoctrinate them in collectivist ideology. Let them have rights equal to if not exceeding their parents. Let them engage in any and all adult vices as soon as possible. And in the ultimate way to avoid the futility and bareness of childhood, kill them before they are born.

In the liberal world children are not to be seen or heard. They cannot be reasoned with. Liberals want companions, soul mates, and brothers-in-arms. They have no patience, stamina, or passion for child rearing. Children get in the way of careers and aspirations. They are a burden. Children are to be boarded, consigned to others, or just put away some place until they can justify themselves before their collectivist overseers. Those who would want to raise a family are obtuse at best because there is only a net loss to burdening Mother Earth with more children.

Liberalism underlies class warfare and the balkanization of societies throughout history. A pro-life versus pro-"reason" struggle for Americas soul now rages. The outcome of this struggle will determine whether we survive as a nation of individual freedom or we slip into the abyss of the hive.
